Relationships: Give Them Your Time

About a month ago, I was at the beach, and a lady came up and started talking to me. She had been through a lot in her life. A car wreck that severely disfigured her. Her husband shot and killed by armed robbers. She had it rough.

I listened to her life story and testimony there for about a half an hour or so. I was quite uncomfortable, and had things to do, but I stayed, giving her my time.

Today, my gas tank was on E. I went to the cheapest station in town. I only had 66¢. As I was counting the coins out, I see this same woman walk up.

She proceeded to give the clerk money to give me a gallon of gas.

I offered to go to a deli, and get her sandwich with my food stamps. She said, “no it’s ok.” I thanked her, and that was that.

Sometimes all you have to do is give people your time. Being an ear to listen, and a shoulder to cry on, is often the thing people need the most.

And it generates good karma

Thanks be to God, and may he bless her abundantly.
